The Route

The Cruise route will encompass 5.5 miles of Route 66 within Tulsa’s city limits. After staging at Tulsa’s Expo Square, cars will travel to the official start of the spectator route at 11th and Yale. The route will then follow 11th Street (Historic Route 66) just south of the University of Tulsa and through key intersections including South Harvard, South Lewis and South Peoria, offering several high-visibility zones for spectators.
The route was determined through meetings and collaboration with city officials, Tulsa police, road closure personnel and Route 66 Commission members. Research into infrastructure, public safety and operational considerations led to the final decision.
Driver FAQs
Who can participate in the cruise?
Any car made in 1996 or earlier is eligible to join. Your vehicle must be in safe working condition, insured, and able to idle along the 5.5-mile route
Is there an application fee?
Yes. Early registration (on or before April 30, 2026) is $15. Regular registration (May 1–30, 2026) is $25. Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements and participate in the cruise will receive commemorative sunglasses, a commemorative certificate, and a limitededition mirror hanger.
When and where do I pick up my packet?
Packet pickup will be available at Expo Square (SageNet Center) during the Capital Cruise Expo. Additional details on packet pick up, what to bring, and where to stage your vehicle will be emailed to you upon approval of your application.
May I have passengers?
Yes! All passengers must be properly seated with enough seatbelts or designated seating space. Minors are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult.
Are motorcycles, RVs, or other specialty vehicles allowed?
Not at this time. Only classic automobiles made before 1996 are eligible.
What if my car breaks down during the cruise?
If your vehicle stalls or has an issue, pull to the side of the route and a volunteer will assist. Tow trucks will be on standby.
What speed will we be driving?
The average pace is idle to 3–5 mph. This is a rolling cruise parade, not a race.
Can I exit the cruise early?
Unfortunately, no early exits are permitted. The full 5.5-mile route takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
What happens if it rains?
The cruise is a rain-or-shine event. In the case of severe weather, you’ll receive email and text notifications with further instructions. No refunds will be issued.
Will my car be photographed or filmed?
Yes. By participating in the Capital Cruise, you are providing your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent, and grants the show organizers to the unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide right to use, reproduce, edit, distribute, and display your image, likeness, voice, and name in any and all media formats for (but not limited to) marketing, social media, internal communications, or archival purposes.
You waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein your likeness appears. Furthermore, you waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of your image or recording.
Will I receive any commemorative items as a driver?
Yes! Applicants that meet the eligibility requirements and participate in the cruise will receive custom sunglasses, a commemorative certificate, and a souvenir mirror tag to display on your vehicle. Additional T-shirts, keychains, and other promotional materials are available for purchase.
