Volunteer FAQs
How do I register to be a volunteer?
Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise is more than a parade—it’s a once-in-a-generation, world-record celebration of classic cars, community, and the Mother Road. We’re calling on passionate, dependable volunteers to help bring this historic event to life as Route Captains, Cruise Ambassadors, and Registration & Vendor Ambassadors.

What are the volunteer shifts?
Volunteer shifts vary by role and day. Most are 4–6 hour blocks with morning and afternoon options. Shifts are available for:
• Registration & Vendor Ambassadors at the Capital Cruise Expo
• Route Captains & Cruise Ambassadors for the Parade on May 30
Can I choose my assignment?
During registration, you can indicate your preferred role and availability. Assignments will be made based on event needs and preferences where possible.
When and where do I check in?
All volunteers will check in at Expo Square during the Capital Cruise Expo to pick up their materials and credentials for all shifts. Detailed instructions and times will be sent in advance.
Will there be a volunteer orientation?
Yes! Volunteers will receive a pre-event email with role-specific training and optional on-site orientation sessions during the Capital Cruise Expo (May 28–29).
What do I wear as a volunteer?
Volunteers will receive a Capital Cruise volunteer t-shirt and should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
Do volunteers get any perks?
Yes! Volunteers receive:
• Official Volunteer Certificate recognizing your participation in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Attempt
• Commemorative Route 66 Capital Cruise Sunglasses
• Official Volunteer T-Shirt to wear with pride on parade day
• Volunteer Swag Bag filled with fun, useful goodies
• A certificate of service hours (upon request)
What time do I need to arrive to volunteer?
Your volunteer confirmation email will provide detailed information on when and where to arrive and what to expect. You’ll receive this final email two weeks prior to the event.
Can I volunteer for the parade and still drive in the parade?
Unfortunately, no—volunteers are needed during staging and throughout the parade to ensure smooth operations. We’d love for you to register as a driver or join us as a volunteer, but not both.
Will I be working alone?
Most assignments are done in teams or pairs. We do our best to ensure volunteers have support and camaraderie during their shift.
