Historic Route 66 hosts the beginning of this year's Mother Road Revival Weekend as Oklahoma's own Parker Millsap takes the stage for a ‘pop-up' show at ‘Tulsa Kicks on 66' on Sept. 7, 2016. Tulsa Kicks on 66 presented by River Spirit Casino is a free outdoor concert at the corner of 11th Street and Atlanta Avenue with entertainment starting at 6 p.m., and serves as the announcement event for the future site of Fuel 66, a new food truck and outdoor bar coming soon to Tulsa.
Millsap is singer/songwriter from Purcell, Okla. who plays a blend of alt-country/Americana, folk and blues music. With two full-length albums released, he is an artist on the rise with high-profile praise stemming from the likes of NPR, the Wall Street Journal, a nomination for Americana Emerging Artist of the Year and an appearance on CONAN. Millsap's blend of traditional sound, contemporary writing and charismatic stage presence make him a perfect addition to Mother Road Revival Weekend.
Tulsa Kicks on 66 takes place at the future site of Fuel 66 at 2439 E. 11th St. in Tulsa and hosts a variety of food truck options, low-point beers, soft drinks and free entertainment. Joining Millsap on stage is local Tulsa artist Levi Parham. Parham is another up-and-coming Americana artist with several albums under his belt. He and his band bring the opening sounds before Millsap. The Tulsa Kicks on 66 food truck set-up is a preview for Tulsan's to experience what the future Fuel 66 food truck and outdoor bar environment will be like as the city looks to reinvigorate the historic Route 66 area.
