This Land Press and Far Western are proud to bring the Japanese band The Blueside of Lonesome back to Tulsa on Thursday, Sept. 29, for an evening of bluegrass music from the Far East. The Blueside of Lonesome is the subject of the soon-to-be-released documentary "Far Western," which explores Japan's obsession with American country music. Masuo Sasabe has been trekking to American bluegrass festivals since the mid-1970s and has formed several acclaimed bluegrass, western swing, and traditional country music bands in Japan. Doors to Soul City open at 7 p.m. Tulsa's own Jacob Tovar and Seth Lee Jones kick the show off at 8, with their old-school honky tonk. The Blueside of Lonesome takes the stage at 9. Tickets are $10 at the door, and the show is open to all ages. Come and enjoy a beautiful evening of music under the stars in the cozy backyard of Soul City (you're welcome to bring your own lawn chair). The Blueside of Lonesome will also play at the Oklahoma's International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie Oct. 2-3.
