There are a lot of changes happening in our industry. Automation, "Big Data" and Cloud technologies are starting to show benefits to operators and service companies alike. Well planning is one area that promises to quickly implement such technologies to the benefit of engineers. The cloud is providing enhanced communications between the engineer, vendors, the rig and management. Data is starting to take shape with data aggregation and analysis applications coming available to actually make sense of it. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Language are automating analysis processes to make the engineer more productive and responsive, especially in "factory" style drilling environments.
