Enjoy “An Evening with the Orchestra” on Sunday, April 29 at 6:00 pm. The First Baptist Church Celebration Orchestra will be performing a selection of spiritual music lead by conductor, Brad Henderson.
The evening’s playlist includes a new work entitled, “Unstoppable,” a multimedia collaboration by local composer and cellist, Matt Magerkurth, film editor Izzy Potts and poet David Bowden, several pieces arranged by talented orchestra members and standard sacred orchestra selections. The event is free to the public. Following the concert, mingle with the members of the orchestra over coffee and dessert.
Celebrating 30 years, the Orchestra was founded in 1988 at First Baptist Church of Tulsa and is comprised of 50 volunteer members. The musicians are both professional and amateur including several local band directors, students from University of Tulsa, and members of Tulsa’s Signature Symphony.
Brad Henderson is the Worship Associate at First Baptist Church of Tulsa and is an accomplished writer and arranger. Brad spent 5 years with Up With People where he and his casts performed with the Belgian National Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, and Boston Pops. Brad has also served as a worship leader and pianist/arranger and musical director for the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Awards Show.
