| 27 : | Portico Dans Theatre & Tulsa Camerata's A Midsummer Night's Dream [+]Date : May 31 - June 1, 2013Time : 8pm Location : Guthrie Green Web : www.porticodanstheatre.org "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is a new collaborative work between Portico Dans Theatre (PDT) and Tulsa Camerata (TC). The production is FREE and takes place May 31-June 1 at the Brady Art District's Guthrie Green. Experience this customized piece of artistic theatre using PDT & TC's unexpected mixture of traditional and alternative live music and spellbinding contemporary & aerial choreography. TC plays compositions by Mendelssohn and the orchestral version of The Velvet Underground's Heroin (in addition to recorded music). The storyline of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" remains the same as the classical version, however PDT and TC work with local artists to add several specialized differences that amplify the excitement and intrigue of this production. Local actor/writer Justin McKean updates the original story to use modern-day characters and location. He also adapts the script for PDT's choreography to tell the story alongside select dialogue acted by Tulsa Shakespeare in the Park. Tulsa artist Mery McNett completes the production with original video artistry. Audiences will NOT want to miss this unique version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Set in the beautiful downtown Guthrie Green, the dance, music and theatrical excellence of this piece is an event the entire family will enjoy. Address: 111 E.
